Lawyer for the Social Security Claims Process in Harrisburg

Helping People With Disabilities Obtain Social Security Benefits

It can take many months to get approval of a Retirement Survivors and Disability Insurance (RSDI) or Supplemental Security Income (SSI) claim. In fact, some claims never get approved, often due to mistakes or omissions in the medical records and supporting information supplied.

Help from an experienced Social Security attorney can make all the difference in the world when pursuing a disability claim. If you or a family member has a disabling condition or disease, you should get legal advice as soon as possible.

At Turner & O'Connell, Attorneys at Law, we are highly experienced in SSD/RSDI and SSI claims and appeals. We act with diligence and tenacity to get results for our clients, and we leave no stone unturned in our efforts.

The Social Security Claims Process

While we are happy to provide you with information about the claims process and how it works, Turner & O'Connell usually begins working for clients after the initial rejection of a claim. A brief outline of the process appears below.

RSDI or SSI application — The claimant must submit a lengthy application and supporting information. This data, including the medical diagnosis, must be in a form that enables SSA to properly evaluate the claim. If it is not, then SSA will reject the claim, even if the underlying medical condition would appear to qualify the applicant for benefits.

Request for hearing — If your initial claim has been denied, our firm can prepare a request for hearing. We can also help arrange for an additional medical evaluation that can provide information supporting your claim.

Administrative law hearing — We will prepare you for this hearing before an SSA administrative law judge. We will present your case to the judge, including information that supports your claim.

Appeal to the Appeals Council — If the reconsideration hearing results in a negative outcome, we can prepare a written appeal.

Appeal to federal court — If the Appeals Council denies your claim, we can appeal your case to federal court.

Application Denied? Don't Give Up Hope

SSA denies a large percentage of initial RSDI and SSI claims. When you hire us to represent you, Turner & O'Connell will work tirelessly to gain approval of your claim.
